Tina Sharkey
Senior Vice President, AOL
Tina Sharkey is the Senior Vice President at AOL, in the division of network and community programming. She has been a pioneer in the evolution of new media, from the introduction of HDTV in 1986 to the forefront of Web 2.0 today. Currently, Sharkey oversees network programming for more than 100 million monthly visitors to the AOL network, which includes AOL.com, AIM and the AOL service. Having coined the phrase "social media" in 1995 as co-founder of iVillage, she now leads all of AOL's social networking initiatives. Prior to her work at AOL, Sharkey served as group president of Sesame Workshop's Online Services, where she created the award-winning Sesame Street Internet business. Earlier in her career, Sharkey collaborated with Barry Diller on a new home shopping channel, Q2, a division of QVC, serving as vice president of marketing and programming. A Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute, she currently serves on the boards of Sister to Sister and New York Women in Communication Foundation.
