James Prince
President, Founder, The Democracy Council
James Prince is President of the Democracy Council, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting democracy, the rule of law and economic opportunity in developing countries. His governmental experience includes work as a senior professional staff member for the House International Relations Committee and as a legislative assistant for a senior California member of Congress. While a congressional staff member, he worked on NAFTA legislation, developed and drafted a police training bill signed into law by President Bush, served as a lead investigator looking into employment practices of the FBI and functioned as a foreign policy advisor (Middle East) for the 1992 Clinton presidential campaign. Prince has participated in a numerous international training missions; he served as a U.N. peace monitor in South Africa, an international monitor for the 1993 elections in Northern Iraq and led a Congressional fact-finding mission investigating human rights abuses in Kashmir and Afghanistan. A frequent speaker and author, his articles have appeared in The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Worth, The Christian Science Monitor, The Jerusalem Post and Current Affairs, among others. Previously, he was a director of PricewaterhouseCoopers Financial Advisory Services. Prince earned a bachelor's degree at the University of California, Los Angeles, and a master's degree in national security policy studies at George Washington University.
