Seven-time winner of the Tour de France; Founding Director, Lance Armstrong Foundation
Lance Armstrong was diagnosed with testicular cancer in 1996 and faced enormous odds and uncertainty about his future. But the world-class cyclist came back to capture seven consecutive Tour de France victories, from 1999 through 2005. As Founding Director of the Lance Armstrong Foundation, he is a leading advocate for cancer survivors and the issues they face. Armstrong was recently appointed by President Bush to serve a three-year term as one of three members of the President's Cancer Panel, an advisory group that reports directly to the president about Americans and cancer. He is the author of It's Not About the Bike: My Journey Back to Life.
