B. Scott Minerd
CEO, Chief Investment Officer, Guggenheim Partners Asset Management
B. Scott Minerd is the CEO of Guggenheim Partners Asset Management, where he functions also as the Chief Investment Officer, overseeing more than $21 billion in client assets. As a managing director for Morgan Stanley and later Credit Suisse, Minerd was responsible for overseeing fixed-income credit trading in the United States, Europe and Asia. Early in his career, he made significant contributions to the development and use of derivative securities in the global capital markets. During the 1993 European exchange-rate crisis, he orchestrated Italy's successful restructuring of its Eurobond debt. By employing the largest debt exchange offer ever executed by a G7 country, Italy was able to re-establish itself as a credible borrower, thus avoiding an appeal to the IMF for financial relief. Minerd began his career as a certified public accountant and worked for the public accounting firm of Price Waterhouse. He earned a bachelor's degree in economics at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
