Vice President, Advancing Innovation, Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation
Lesa Mitchell is Vice President of Advancing Innovation with the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, responsible for the foundation's pioneering work in understanding the policy levers that influence the advancement of innovation from universities into the commercial market. The foundation is working to further understand the phenomenon of entrepreneurship, to advance entrepreneurship education and training efforts, to promote entrepreneurship-friendly policies and to facilitate the commercialization of new technologies by entrepreneurs and others. Under Mitchell's leadership, the foundation is identifying critical research opportunities, defining and codifying alternative pathways and identifying new models to foster innovation. Prior to joining Kauffman, Mitchell consulted for such global pharmaceutical clients as Takeda, Eli Lilly and the Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium. She spent 20 years in global executive roles at Aventis and Quintiles. Mitchell earned her bachelor's degree in business at the University of Kansas.
