Carl Brooks is President of the Executive Leadership Council providing strategic direction to ensure that Council and Foundation goals and initiatives are achieved. The Executive Leadership Council is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that provides African-American officers and executives of major U.S. companies a global network and forum on national and international economic and public policy issues. The Executive Leadership Foundation was established to promote and implement charitable and educational activities designed by the membership of the Council. Previously, Brooks held several positions at GPU Energy including vice president of Human and Technical Resources, vice president of Corporate Affairs and vice president of Finance and Administration. Brooks joined GPU in 1977 as manager of contracts for the former Jersey Central Power & Light Company. He is a member of the American Society of Association Executives, the National Black MBA Association and the National Urban League′s Best Diversity Practices Study Advisory Council. Brooks is honorary chair of the 35th Anniversary of the School of Business at Howard University and a 2004 recipient of the EEOC′s Spirit of Partnership Award. Brooks earned his bachelor′s at the Hampton Institute and his MBA at Southern Illinois University.
