Michio Kushi is the Chairman of the Kushi Institute and Senior Advisor to Tsubasa System Co. He is a pioneer in the natural and organic food movement and is a teacher of Oriental Medicine, Acupuncture, Meditation, Polarity, and the way of Spiritual Development. In 1978, Kushi and his wife, Aveline, founded the Kushi Institute, which is the world′s leading macrobiotic educational center. He has authored dozens of books on natural health, including The Macrobiotic Way: The Complete Macrobiotic Diet & Exercise Book, The Cancer Prevention Diet, Diet for a Strong Heart and Raising Healthy Kids. He received the Award of Excellence from the United Nations Society of Writers and spoke before the United States Congress during a hearing on the role of diet in relationship to breast cancer. His collection of work is in the Smithsonian Institution as part of its permanent collection and the U.S. House of Representatives bestowed upon him the Resolution of Recognition. Kushi earned his degree from the Faculty of Law at Tokyo University and he studied at Columbia University.
