Richard Jacobs is Financial Advisor for the Glazer Family Interests managing businesses and investments. Previously, Jacobs was acting COO of Marvel Enterprises, Inc. and president and CEO of Newstar, Inc., a merchant banking and investment advisory firm focused on the former Soviet Union and central Europe. Jacobs founded Newstar in 1991 with Howard Baker, Jr., former U.S. Senator and White House Chief of Staff. Prior to this, Jacobs served as assistant to the chairman of Occidental Petroleum Corporation from 1983-1990. In 1985, he was elected vice president of Occidental with responsibility for all activities of the Office of the Chairman, focusing on operations in the Soviet Union, Pakistan and Israel. He serves on the boards of the Liberty Hill Foundation, The Eisenhower World Affairs Institute and ANGLE. He previously served on the Defense Science Board's task force on defense conversation in the former Soviet Union and on the American Russian Cultural Cooperation Foundation.
