Speaker's Biography:
Steve Murdock
Professor and Head, Department of Rural Sociology, Texas A&M University
Steve Murdock is head of the Department of Rural Sociology and director of the Center for Demographic and Socioeconomic Research and Education at Texas A&M University. Additionally, he is a Regents Professor and director of the Strategic Policies Research Group of the Texas A&M University System and chief demographer of the Texas State Data Center, among other appointments. Before coming to Texas A&M in 1977, Murdock taught at North Dakota State University. He has authored 10 books on the determinants and consequences of demographic and social change and over 80 articles and chapters on the demographic and social impacts of environmental change, in addition to over 100 other publications. His Ph.D. is from the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
