Stanley Brooks
Chairman, California Film Commission; Founder, Once Upon A Time Films
Stanley Brooks is Chairman of the California Film Commission, an appointment he received from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2007. An award-winning producer of film and television, with 27 years of experience, Brooks is also the founder of Once Upon A Time Films. Since founding the company in 1989, he has produced 52 film and television projects. Last year his miniseries "Broken Trail" won four Emmy Awards (after receiving 16 Emmy nominations, the most for a miniseries since "Roots") and a Directors Guild of America award for best miniseries. His latest project, "Sordid Lives: The Series," debuted on MTV's LOGO Network this year. Brooks previously served as president of Guber-Peters Television, which produced numerous projects, including the Oscar-winning film Rain Man. In 1995, Brooks founded The Hollywood Indies Little League Foundation, now the largest Little League program in Los Angeles. A graduate of Brandeis University, Brooks holds a master's degree art from the American Film Institute. In addition, he is a faculty member at the AFI Center for Advanced Film and Television Studies.
