Allan Zaremberg
President and CEO, California Chamber of Commerce
Allan Zaremberg is President and CEO of the California Chamber of Commerce, whose membership includes more than 16,000 firms as well as 450 local chambers of commerce and 200 trade associations. Since joining the organization in 1992, Zaremberg has headed statewide ballot campaigns and negotiated with legislators on a wide range of issues designed to improve the state's business climate. He previously served as chief legislative advisor to and advocate for California Governors George Deukmejian and Pete Wilson. In that capacity, Zaremberg helped guide enactment of transportation, education, health, welfare and tax reforms. He came to the governor's staff from the state Department of Justice, where he was a deputy attorney general specializing in legislative advocacy. He practiced law in Sacramento from 1978 to 1980, and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1970 to 1975. Zaremberg holds a bachelor's degree in economics from Penn State University and a law degree from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Journal.
