Speaker's Biography:
Lloyd Levine
Member, California State Assembly
Lloyd Levine, D-Van Nuys, represents the 40th District in the California State Assembly, having been elected in 2002. In February 2004, Levine was named Majority Whip, and is responsible for monitoring legislation and securing votes for legislation on the Assembly floor. He serves on the Committee on Utilities and Commerce, among others. Before his election, he worked for four years as legislative director for Assemblyman John Longville, playing a key role in the development of important legislation that would protect the rights of working people, increase quality access to health care and protect the environment, and as a legislative aide to Assemblyman (now Senator) Ed Vincent. He has also worked for the State Employment Development Department′s Labor Market Information Division, and served on the Secretary of State's External Working Group on Campaign Finance Reform. Levine earned his bachelor's degree in studio art at the University of California, Riverside.
