Gray Davis is the former governor of California and Of Counsel at Loeb & Loeb LLP. As governor, Davis made education a top priority, establishing the Academic Performance Index to increase accountability while expanding access to higher education with a record number of scholarships. These reforms improved student scores for six consecutive years. Davis also made record investments in infrastructure and created four Centers of Science and Innovation on University of California campuses. Demonstrating bold leadership, he signed the first law in the nation to reduce global warming and greenhouse gases, and he was the first governor to emphasize renewable energy by creating the statewide Renewables Portfolio Standard. He is a member of the bipartisan Think Long Committee, a senior fellow at the UCLA School of Public Affairs and co-chair of the Southern California Leadership Council.
