Mick Davis is chief executive of Xstrata PLC, a diversified mining and metals company with operations in 20 nations. Xstrata is the world's largest producer of export thermal coal, zinc and ferrochrome, and it is a top five producer of copper, nickel and metallurgical coal. Before joining Xstrata, Davis was an executive director and chief financial officer of Billiton PLC and chairman of Billiton Coal. Prior to that, he was an executive director of South African state-owned Eskom, one of the world's largest electricity utilities. Davis has extensive capital markets and corporate transactions experience. During his career, he has raised over US$35 billion from global capital markets and successfully completed over US$70 billion of corporate transactions. He serves on several boards, including serving as chairman of the United Jewish Israel Appeal, the Jewish Leadership Council of Great Britain, and Euro Chai South Africa Trust, which supports South African charitable institutions. Davis is a graduate of Rhodes University, South Africa.
