T. Boone Pickens

Entrepreneur and Philanthropist; Founder, BP Capital

T. Boone Pickens, founder and chairman of BP Capital Management, is a legendary oil and gas entrepreneur who is on a mission to lessen U.S. dependence on OPEC oil. President Obama has praised Pickens' leadership in developing the Pickens Plan for harnessing domestic alternatives. He is an icon in global business for his tenacity in the rough-and-tumble world of mergers and acquisitions. A geologist by training, he built and led one of the largest independent natural gas and oil companies. Then he reinvented himself by establishing one of America's most successful energy-oriented investment funds. He has been uncannily accurate at predicting oil and gas prices — CNBC called him the "Oracle of Oil" — and as a result is a frequent guest on some of the nation's most-watched business programs. Pickens chronicles the lessons he has learned in his best-selling autobiography "The First Billion Is the Hardest." A committed philanthropist, he has donated nearly USD$1 billion to charity.
