Romantics look at great cities and see melting pots of global cultures and magnets for the ambitious. They view them as laboratories for visionary architects and repositories of treasured cultural institutions. But there's a flip side: underperforming and overcrowded schools, inadequate public transportation and neighborhoods blighted by poverty. California's cities are dealing with all of these problems - and learning that they can be solved with the right combination of creativity, resources and street smarts. This session brings together some of most innovative thinkers and doers tackling issues of urban renewal to discuss how we can make our cities healthier, wealthier and more livable.
