Teresa Clarke

Teresa Clarke is chairman and CEO of, a website providing news and information about Africa to more than 2 million monthly visitors. An investment banker and Internet entrepreneur, Clarke has been doing business in Africa for 20 years. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and in 2014 she was appointed to President Obama's Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa. Clarke produced and directed the 2013 documentary "Africa Straight Up," which aired on BET. She was the first African-American woman to serve as a managing director in the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs, where she led corporate finance and merger and acquisition deals. Clarke's nonprofit, Student Sponsorship Programme of South Africa, has awarded nearly 2,000 scholarships worth $15 million. She has served on numerous boards and was named one of the 25 Most Influential Women by the Network Journal. Clarke earned a B.A. in economics from Harvard College, an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
