Founder and Executive Chairman, Union Group
Juan Sartori is founder and executive chairman of Union Group. He started the company in 2006 in Uruguay with a blueberry farming business, which subsequently branched out into rice, soya bean and wheat production, as well as sheep and cattle raising. In 2008, he founded Union Agriculture Group (UAG) to manage these interests and Union Group then expanded into other sectors: renewable energy, oil and gas, minerals, infrastructure, real estate and forestry. As of October 2014, Union Group managed businesses worth $1.6 billion, with offices in London, Montevideo, Lima and Toronto. Sartori has a bachelor's degree in business and economics from École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Lausanne and attended Harvard University, where he studied economics and international finance.
