Managing Director, Black Rhino; Executive Advisor and Chair, Blackstone Africa Infrastructure LP
Mimi Alemayehou is a managing director at Black Rhino and executive advisor and chair of Blackstone Africa Infrastructure LP. Previously, she was executive vice president of the Overseas Private Investment Corp. (OPIC), the development finance agency of the U.S. government, under the Obama administration, and was one of the architects of the Power Africa initiative to increase energy access across the continent. During her tenure, OPIC's portfolio grew by more than 24 percent to $18 billion. Earlier, Alemayehou was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve as the U.S. executive director on the board of the African Development Bank (AfDB). She was also founder and managing partner of Trade Links, LLC, a development consulting firm, and director of international regulatory affairs for WorldSpace Corp., a telecommunications company. Alemayehou started her career working for U.S. Rep. Mac Thornberry. She has a master's degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
