Paul Hinks is CEO and founder of Symbion Power and chairman of the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA). During a career in the power industry spanning more than 30 years, Hinks has overseen the operation and construction of large-scale power plants, transmission lines and substations in the U.S., Africa, the Middle East and Asia. With his extensive contracting experience, Hinks created Symbion in response to the need for reconstruction of electrical infrastructure during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. Under his leadership, the company began operations in Africa in 2010. Symbion has moved into private sector investment and is among the largest independent U.S. power producers operating on the continent. In 2012, Hinks was appointed chairman of the CCA, the largest U.S. organization that promotes trade and investment between the U.S. and Africa.
