Alan Schwartz is executive chairman of Guggenheim Partners, a global, independent and privately held financial services firm. He is former CEO of Bear Stearns Cos. During his career with Bear Stearns, Schwartz served as president and chief operating officer, executive vice president and co-head of investment banking, among other financial management positions. He previously worked with Wertheim & Co. and R.W. Pressprich & Co. Schwartz is a member of the boards of the Robin Hood Foundation, Clinton Health Access Initiative, Marvin and Palmer, MENTOR: The National Mentoring Partnership, American Foundation for AIDS Research, NYU Medical Center and Madison Square Garden. Schwartz has been a member of the Duke University board of trustees since 2005 and has served as chairman of the Fuqua School of Business board of visitors and as a member of the athletic advisory board. He earned a B.A. in management science from Duke University in 1972.
