Founder and Chairman, Quicken Loans and Rock Ventures; Majority Owner, NBA Cleveland Cavaliers
Dan Gilbert is founder and chairman of Quicken Loans and Rock Ventures, the umbrella entity for his business and real estate investments, and is majority owner of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers. Gilbert moved his family of companies to downtown Detroit in 2010 and has invested $1.7 billion to purchase and renovate 70-plus commercial properties in the city's core. Gilbert is committed to remaking Detroit into a high-tech entrepreneurial hub. Through Detroit Venture Partners and Rockbridge, his venture capital and private equity firms, he has built a center of technology and creative startups known as the Madison Block. He recently announced the formation of Rocket Fiber, which is constructing a state-of-the-art fiber network for all of downtown Detroit. Gilbert has championed the M-1 Rail, the Detroit Blight Removal Task Force and place-making initiatives to transform Detroit into a premier 21st-century city. He serves on the boards of the Cleveland Clinic, the Children's National Medical Center and the Children's Tumor Foundation.
