Gary Shapiro is president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association, which represents more than 2,000 companies and produces the world's largest annual innovation trade show. Shapiro leads a staff of 150 employees and thousands of volunteers, and under his leadership, CEA has won awards as a family-friendly employer, as one of the best places to work in Virginia, and as a "green" trade show producer. He wrote "Ninja Innovation: The Ten Killer Strategies of the World's Most Successful Businesses" in 2013 and "The Comeback: How Innovation Will Restore the American Dream" in 2011. Shapiro led the industry transition to HDTV and the 2009 cut-off date of analog broadcasting. He has testified before Congress on technology and business issues more than 20 times. Previously, Shapiro was an associate at Squire Sanders law firm. He graduated with a double major in economics and psychology from Binghamton University and received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
