Head of the Global Special Situations Group (GSSG), Goldman Sachs
Julian is head of the Global Special Situations Group (GSSG). He is a member of the Management Committee, Partnership Committee, Firmwide Investment Policy Committee and Securities Division ExecComm, as well as chairman of the Global SSG Investment Committee and the Specialty Lending Group Capital Committee. Prior to assuming his current role, Julian was head of the European Special Situations Group (ESSG) from 2008 to 2013. From 2007 to 2008, he worked in Moscow establishing ESSG's business covering the former Soviet Union, and he was a founding member of ESSG in 2003. Previously, Julian held roles in Bank Loan and High Yield Research. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1998, and was named partner in 2008. Prior to joining the firm, Julian worked in the audit practice of KPMG. He is a qualified chartered accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Julian earned a BSc in sports science and an MSc in biomechanics from Loughborough University in 1993 and 1994, respectively.
