Nawaf Althari
Political Adviser, Counter-Terrorism & Counter-Piracy Focal Point, OIC Focal Point Permanent Mission of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations

Mr. Althari is a United Nations (UN) counter-terrorism specialist representing The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In that capacity he leads the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre’s Expert Advisory Board. He oversees UNCCT projects related to capacity building, countering violent extremism, preventing online radicalization, and dealing directly with international terrorists. He headed the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) at the UN in 2014-2015. He is currently OIC Coordinator for all counter-terrorism matters at the United Nations. Mr. Althari also served as an Economic Adviser to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In that capacity he assessed and negotiated Saudi interest in the Sustainable Development Goals and provided briefs and analysis on economic growth and development, financing for development, poverty eradication, and globalization to the Government of Saudi Arabia. Mr. Althari was selected as a Distinguished International Affairs Fellow by the National Council on US Arab Relations.
