Since 2011, Professor Carlo Greco has been the incumbent director of clinical research at the Champalimaud Centre for the Unknown (CCU). His research interests are focused on high-precision image-guided radiotherapy with an emphasis on treatment efficacy, advanced molecular imaging for tumour response assessment and patient quality of life post-treatment. For prostate cancer, he has developed an innovative technique that enables the delivery of a single ablative dose of radiation as a viable and non-invasive alternative to surgery. Prior to his current appointment, he held the position of professor and chair of radiation oncology at the University of Pisa, Italy. He previously worked as a research associate in the Department of Radiation Oncology at MSKCC, New York, with emphasis on single fraction image-guided radiotherapy.
