Steven J. Goulart is executive vice president and chief investment officer of MetLife, Inc. Named to this position in May 2011, Mr. Goulart oversees MetLife's $476 billion general account portfolio and more than 850 investment professionals globally. In 2012, he led the launch of MetLife Investment Management, MetLife's institutional asset management business. He joined MetLife in 2006 to head the company's mergers & acquisitions unit and in 2009 was also named treasurer. In these roles, he oversaw the completion of capital financings exceeding $21 billion and fifteen strategic transactions, including the $16.4 billion acquisition of Alico. Prior to joining MetLife, Mr. Goulart held senior positions in investment banking at Bear Stearns, Morgan Stanley & Merrill Lynch. Mr. Goulart received a B.S. in business administration from the University of Pacific and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
