Chief Technology Officer and Managing Director, Two Sigma Investments, LP
Alfred Spector joined Two Sigma Investments in 2015 as Chief Technology Officer and Head of Engineering. As part of his responsibilities, Dr. Spector leads the engineering team, helps to coordinate its activities with other groups at the firm, and catalyzes new technology initiatives. Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Spector worked at Google, where he served as Vice President of Research and Special Initiatives. Dr. Spector was also responsible for Google's open-source initiatives, university-relations programs, and various other technology initiatives. Dr. Spector is the Founder and CEO of Transarc Corporation, a pioneer in distributed transaction processing and wide area file systems. He is also a Member of the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, the IEEE and the ACM, and the Recipient of the 2001 IEEE Computer Society's Tsutomu Kanai Award. Dr. Spector earned a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in computer science from Stanford University.
