Tokihiko Shimizu is managing director and head of private markets investment at Japan Post Bank. Until March 2016, he had been a visiting professor at the Graduate School of Innovation Management at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. From 2013 to 2015, Shimizu was a member of EDHEC-Risk Institute's international advisory board. From 2007 to 2015, he was at the Government Pension Investment Fund, where he served as director-general of the research department and as investment policy actuary and was responsible for investment strategy. During that time, he also lectured on actuarial math and financial math at Waseda University. Between 1998 and 2001, he was deeply involved in the revamp of the Japanese pension system. He spent four years at the Pension Fund Association as director of the actuarial department. Shimizu's experience in pension fund management began when he joined the Ministry of Health and Welfare in 1987. He is a certified pension actuary and holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from Sophia University.
