Brian Fishman is the author of "The Master Plan: ISIS, al-Qaeda, and the Jihadi Strategy for Final Victory" (Yale University Press, 2016) and the lead policy manager for counterterrorism at Facebook. Fishman holds research affiliations at Stanford University's Center for International Security and Cooperation, UC Berkeley, New America, and the Combating Terrorism Center (CTC) at West Point, where he served as the director of research. Fishman has authored numerous studies on modern terrorism, including groundbreaking assessments of jihadi foreign fighters in Iraq and Iranian sponsorship of Iraqi militias. He has studied the Islamic State and its precursors since 2005 and, in 2008, developed and taught the country's first academic course on the Islamic State (of Iraq). Fishman holds a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and a master's from Columbia University in New York.
