Founder and Chairman, Union Group
Juan Sartori is the president and founder of Union Group (UG), a privately-owned conglomerate with significant strategic Latin American interests, and assets in excess of US$1.5billion covering the agricultural, infrastructure, minerals, oil & gas and real estate sectors. He established UG in 2007 as a blueberry farm subsequently branching out into rice, soya bean, wheat and livestock production. In 2008 he formed Union Agriculture Group (UAG) to consolidate these agriculture interests, and started expanding in other sectors. In 2013, UAG became the largest company to list on the Montevideo Stock Exchange. Mr Sartori began his career as a financial services entrepreneur and in 2002 launched Union Capital Group, a Geneva-based multi-strategy asset manager. In 2008, when the firm had reached US$1billion of AUM, he sold it to the company's management team. Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, he holds a degree in business and economics from HEC Lausanne and Harvard.
