Ellen J. Ellison, CFA, has served as chief investment officer of the University of Illinois Foundation since January 2013, when she was recruited to build an investment team based in Chicago. Over the past four years, she has recruited investment and operational talent as well as managed the $1.5 billion endowment pool of the foundation. Ellison previously served as executive director of investments at the University of Miami from 2006 to 2012 and was responsible for multi- class asset investment pools. She has also served as the chief investment officer at J.I.K. Investment Services, Inc., a family office in Miami, Fla., and as an SVP at Fiduciary Trust Company International in New York and Miami. The Glen Cove, N.Y., native received a bachelor's degree in French literature from Mount Holyoke College and an MBA from Columbia University Business School. She speaks four languages and serves on a number of not-for-profit boards.
