The Honourable Navdeep Bains is the member of Parliament for Mississauga-Malton and was appointed minister of innovation, science and economic development on November 4, 2015. He has extensive parliamentary experience, having represented Mississauga-Malton from 2004 to 2011. He served as privy councillor and parliamentary secretary to Prime Minister Paul Martin and then as critic for public works and government services, the treasury board, international trade, natural resources, and small business and tourism. Minister Bains was an adjunct lecturer at the master of public service program at the University of Waterloo and a distinguished visiting professor at the Ted Rogers School of Management at Ryerson University. His private sector experience includes several years at the Ford Motor Company of Canada. Minister Bains has a bachelor's in administrative studies from York University and a master's in business administration from the University of Windsor. He also holds a certified management accountant designation.
