In 2015, Mr. Madrazo was appointed Chief Economist, where he is responsible for economic and public finance policy. From 2011 to 2015, he was the Head of the Development Banking Unit, where he oversaw a reform that gave the development banks more autonomy. Previously, he was Chief of Staff of three consecutive Deputy Ministers of Finance and Public Credit and worked to develop the pension system reform of state workers (ISSSTE). Mr. Madrazo joined the public sector in 1997, holding positions at BANOBRAS (the local development bank for infrastructure) and the Ministry of Energy. He has also taught Public Finance at ITAM. He holds a BA in Economics from ITAM (1999). Later, he obtained his Master's degree (2001) and PhD in Economics from Yale University (2003).
