Roy Bahat is the head of Bloomberg Beta, an early-stage venture capital firm backed by Bloomberg L.P. that invests in the future of work. Roy co-chairs, with New America's Anne-Marie Slaughter, the Shift Commission on Work, Workers, and Technology, a national effort to understand the 10-20 year future of work in America. Roy is also a lecturer at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business and vice chairman of the Center for Investigative Reporting, a nonprofit newsroom. Roy has been an entrepreneur (started a venture-backed videogame console), a public company executive (at News Corporation), a board member for companies and non-profits, and in government (in his hometown of New York). He was named one of Fast Company's Most Creative People in Business. He graduated from Harvard College and was a Rhodes Scholar. Roy is the son of immigrants, husband to a Midwesterner, and parent to two lightning bolts. He lives in San Francisco, where he tries, occasionally with success, to avoid email from Friday evening to Sunday evening.
