Cher is an award-winning singer and actress who has achieved worldwide stardom. She is also a philanthropist, most recently donating 180,000 bottles of water to Flint, Michigan, to aid people affected in the lead-poisoning crisis. Cher's 50-year career is marked by many successes as a recording artist, live performer, and film, TV and Broadway actress. With her 1998 album "Believe," she became the only female artist to have Top 10 hits in every decade from the 1980s to 2000s and the oldest woman, at age 52, to have No. 1 hit in the Hot 100 rock era. Honors include an Academy Award for best actress for "Moonstruck" and a Grammy for "Believe," as well as an Emmy, three Golden Globes, a Cannes Film Festival Award and a People's Choice Award. Her 325-show world "Farewell Tour," from 2003 to 2005, remains the most successful tour by any female artist. Cher first rose to fame with the 1965 hit "I Got You Babe" with Sonny Bono and the TV show "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour." She is scheduled to record a new album this year.
