Speaker's Biography:

Goldie Hawn
Actress; Founder, Hawn Foundation

Goldie Hawn is an actress and the founder of the Hawn Foundation, a public charity whose mission is to equip children with the social and emotional skills they need to lead smarter, healthier and happier lives. Hawn began the foundation in 2003, alarmed by increases in school violence, youth depression and suicide, and the education system's failure to help children cope with increasingly stressful lives. Working with leading neuroscientists, educators, psychologists and researchers, the foundation developed MindUP, an evidence-based curriculum and teaching model for grades K-12 that provides tools to help children self-regulate their emotions; reduce stress and anxiety; sharpen concentration; increase empathy; and improve academic performance. In 2015, Hawn released "10 Mindful Minutes: A Journal," a practical application of her 2011 best-seller "10 Mindful Minutes," which offers guidance on raising children. Her other best-seller, "A Lotus Grows in the Mud," (2005) is a memoir. Hawn is also a producer and director.
