Allan Lokos
Founder and Guiding Teacher, Community Meditation Center; Author

Allan Lokos is founder and guiding teacher of the Community Meditation Center in New York. He is the author of the best-seller "Patience: The Art of Peaceful Living"; "Through the Flames: Overcoming Disaster Through Compassion, Patience and Determination"; and "Pocket Peace: Effective Practices for Enlightened Living." Lokos has practiced meditation since the mid-1990s and studied with many of the world's renowned teachers. He was in a plane crash in 2012 and given little chance of surviving his injuries. The role meditation played in his miraculous recovery became a question asked on dozens of radio, television and newspaper interviews. His writings have appeared in the Huffington Post, Tricycle magazine and several anthologies. He has taught at Columbia University Teachers College, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies, Marymount College, the Rubin Museum Brainwave Series, New York Insight Meditation Center, the New York Open Center, Insight Meditation Community of Washington and many others.
