Co-Founder and Chairman, Milken Family Foundation
Lowell Milken, international businessman and education reform visionary, is co-founder and chairman of the Milken Family Foundation. He is also founder of the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET). Launched in 2005 to increase educator effectiveness, today NIET directly impacts over 200,000 teachers and 2.5 million students. As Milken Family Foundation chairman/co-founder, Lowell originated the Milken Educator Awards as the nation's preeminent teacher recognition program. The Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes drives student discovery of role models in history who changed the world. Partnering with Art Center College of Design, he created the Hoffmitz Milken Center for Typography to set the global standard in typography and design education. Lowell also chairs London-based Heron International, a worldwide force in property development. Graduating summa cum laude from the University of California, Berkeley, he received the Business School's Most Outstanding Student Award. The School of Law at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned Order of the Coif and Law Review, has established the Lowell Milken Institute for Business Law and Policy.
