CEO, EJF Capital
Emanuel Friedman is founder and CEO of EJF Capital LLC. Headquartered outside Washington, D.C., EJF is an independent alternative investment manager with firm assets of about $5 billion under management. EJF uses an event-driven approach to identify opportunities across the entire capital structure of companies, primarily focused in banking or related financials sectors that have been transformed by the regulatory environment. Prior to founding EJF, Friedman founded and was co-chairman and co-CEO of Friedman, Billings, Ramsey Group, Inc. He has more than 40 years of experience in the U.S. securities industry, with expertise in banks and financials. Friedman has also established the Emanuel J. Friedman Philanthropies, a charitable foundation that supports a variety of programs. Current priorities include saving the endangered cheetah, improving pediatric asthma care, stopping Alzheimer's Disease, ensuring the continuity of the Jewish community in the D.C. region, and improving education outcomes for D.C. public school students.
