Gerard Baker

Gerard Baker is managing editor of The Wall Street Journal and editor-in-chief of Dow Jones & Company. Previously, he served as deputy editor-in-chief of the Journal and Dow Jones Newswires, with responsibilities across the full spectrum of the company's journalism. Before joining the Journal, Baker was U.S. editor and an assistant editor at The Times of London, where he wrote news and commentary and oversaw U.S. coverage for the paper and online editions. Prior to that, he served as chief U.S. commentator for the Financial Times, the FT's Washington bureau chief and the FT's Tokyo correspondent. Before joining the FT, Baker worked for the BBC, becoming economics correspondent for TV and radio. He started his working life as an analyst at the Bank of England and then moved to Lloyds Bank as an economist. Baker graduated from Corpus Christi College, Oxford University, with a degree in philosophy, politics and economics.
