David Collyer is president of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, where he leads activities in education, communications and policy/regulatory advocacy on behalf of the organization's members representing over 90 percent of the upstream petroleum production in Canada. Collyer previously served as president and country chair for Shell in Canada. During his 30-year career at Shell, he held a range of technical, business and senior leadership roles, including positions in conventional oil and gas, oil sands, marketing and transportation. He also held cross-business roles in strategy and planning, communications, and sustainable development. In addition, Collyer participated in a two-year executive exchange assignment with the federal government in Ottawa. He holds a petroleum engineering degree and an M.B.A. from the University of Alberta and belongs to the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta as well as the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
