Michael Govan
CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director, Los Angeles County Museum of Art

Michael Govan is CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Since arriving at LACMA in 2006, he has overseen all activities of the museum, including an ambitious, multi-faceted building program to expand, upgrade and unify the museum's 20-acre campus. He has also overseen the installation of monumental outdoor artworks around LACMA's campus by Chris Burden, Robert Irwin and Michael Heizer. From 1994 until 2006, Govan was president and director of New York City's Dia Art Foundation, where he spearheaded the creation of the critically acclaimed, 292,000-square-foot Dia: Beacon, a museum in New York's Hudson Valley. Prior to Dia Art Foundation, Govan served for six years as deputy director of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum.
