Leon Black
Founding Partner, Apollo Management, LP

Leon Black is chairman and CEO of Apollo Global Management, LLC, and a managing partner of Apollo Management, L.P., which he founded in 1990 to manage investment capital on behalf of a group of institutional investors. The firm had $70 billion in assets under management as of March 31, 2011. From 1977 to 1990, Black worked at Drexel Burnham Lambert Inc., where he served as managing director, head of the Mergers & Acquisitions Group and co-head of the Corporate Finance Department. He serves on the boards of Apollo Global Management, Sirius XM Radio Inc., The New York City Partnership and the general partner of AP Alternative Assets. Black is a trustee of the Museum of Modern Art, Mount Sinai Hospital, Metropolitan Museum of Art and The Asia Society. He is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and sits on the boards of FasterCures and the Port Authority Task Force. A graduate of Dartmouth College, he holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
