Alex Barkaloff is executive producer of digital media for Lionsgate, heading development of transmedia, social and mobile media properties. These include the Lionsgate/Massify incubator, which is developing crowd-sourced comedy features; "Trailer Trash," an animated, short-format comedy series; and a number of mobile, episodic and game application projects. He also explores opportunities within the Lionsgate catalog of 14,000 films and television episodes. Barkaloff began his career at JPL/NASA as a software engineer and later branched to entrepreneurial ventures in the software arena. He headed Psion's operations in Poland/Central Europe for the development of mobile applications for the world's first mobile-connected PDA. He was also the director of application server marketing for Oracle. In 1998 he set up his own venture capital group, GlobalNet Ventures, and invested in digital online media startups. He spent much of the 2000s making deals with some of the leading mobile entertainment platforms.
