Matthew Kahn is a Professor at the Institute of the Environment, the Department of Economics and the Department of Public Policy, all at the University of California, Los Angeles. He is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. Before joining UCLA in 2007, Kahn taught at Columbia University and The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University, and served as a visiting professor at Harvard and Stanford universities. His research focuses on environmental, urban, real estate and energy economics. Kahn is the author of Green Cities: Urban Growth and the Environment and co-author of Heroes and Cowards: The Social Face of War. His newest book, Climatopolis will be published this fall. He also blogs on these topics for the Christian Science Monitor. In 2009 The Wall Street Journal named him one of the 25 top economics bloggers. Kahn holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago.
