Afgan Isayev is Executive Director of the state-owned Azerbaijan Investment Company, established in 2006 with initial charter capital of more than $100 million. The company acquires shares in the charter capital of joint-stock companies in the non-oil sector of the national economy. A priority of the company is to have Azerbaijani enterprises participate in projects aimed at stimulating exports, as well as attracting investors. Isayev previously served as deputy chairman of risk management with the OJSC Bank of Baku. He also served as deputy chairman of strategic planning and development for the bank. Isayev began his career as a financial analyst at American Express International Bank in New York, later moving to the American Express Company, where he worked as a manager of the risk management and the portfolio analysis groups. He received B.S. and B.A. degrees from Rutgers University, and an M.B.A. and M.I.S. from Rutgers Graduate School of Management.
