Ambassador to the United States, Pakistan
Husain Haqqani has served as Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States since 2008. As such, he is on leave from Boston University, where he has taught since 2004. Haqqani began his career as a journalist, working in Hong Kong as the East Asian correspondent for the journal Arabia: The Islamic World Review, as a correspondent for Far Eastern Economic Review and as a reporter for Voice of America, covering the war in Afghanistan. He served as advisor to three prime ministers and as ambassador to Sri Lanka. In 2002 Haqqani became a visiting scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and a lecturer at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. He has written hundreds of articles for the world's leading journals and newspapers, and is author of Pakistan Between Mosque and Military. Haqqani holds a B.A. and an M.A. in international relations from the University of Karachi.
