Director, Global Governance Initiative, New America Foundation
Parag Khanna is Director of the Global Governance Initiative at the New America Foundation. He is the author of The Second World: Empires and Influence in the New Global Order, which has been translated into more than a dozen languages. In 2007 he was a senior geopolitical advisor to U.S. special operations forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. From 2002 to 2005, Khanna was the global governance fellow at the Brookings Institution. He also served in the foreign policy advisory group to the Barack Obama for President campaign. Khanna is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and the Explorers Club. In 2009 he was honored as a "Young Global Leader" of the World Economic Forum. Khanna holds a bachelor's degree from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and a master's degree from Georgetown's Security Studies Program.
