Andrea Barthwell is Founder and CEO of the global health-care and policy-consulting firm EMGlobal LLC and and Director at Two Dreams Outer Banks Health and Wellness Center. She previously served as deputy director for demand reduction in the Office of National Drug Control Policy, advising the White House on policies aimed at reducing the demand for illicit drugs. During her tenure, the Bush administration encouraged student drug testing and promoted the expansion and improvement of drug courts. Barthwell, a past president of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, has received the Betty Ford Award and has been named one of the "Best Doctors in America" in addiction medicine. Barthwell received a bachelor′s degree from Wesleyan University, where she serves on the Board of Trustees, and an M.D. from the University of Michigan Medical School.
